Job in a nutshell:
This is a hybrid role, Edinburgh office.
We have an exciting role for a Policyholder Tax Consultant within our Pension Servicing business. The successful candidate will have experience of a policyholder tax (operational taxes) function with a focus on the control environment, regulatory compliance and horizon scanning, and the effective operation of the tax compliance cycle. This will enable clear, concise, and accurate financial and tax reporting to both internal and external stakeholders as well as various regulatory bodies.
What you will be doing:
1. Manage HMRC deliverables to ensure accurate and timely returns are submitted for pensions and bonds products.
2. Perform tax reconciliations, agree tax liabilities and facilitate payments.
3. Provide tax technical support to operational and change areas - BAU and Regulatory.
4. Establish and maintain relationships with managers in Customer Service & business units.
5. Liaise with our client on the delivery of controls over tax services.
6. Provide information and understanding to auditors on our processes on regular and ad-hoc audits.
7. Plan and manage workload and assist manager in planning ahead for department development work, identifying training and improvement needs short to medium term.
8. Delivery of management information to key partners.
Requirements:
1. Must have either a tax qualification related to policyholder taxes or be qualified by experience.
2. Good numerical skills.
3. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Attention to detail and focus on quality.
5. Adherence to regulatory rules and procedures.
6. Successful delivery against commitments and deadlines.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
8. Experience of giving feedback/ coaching.
