The ward
The largest UK medium secure service for deaf men aged 18 to 65 years.
Fairbairn is a 15-bed ward within a purpose-built medium secure service, managing deaf or hearing-impaired patients with complex mental illnesses in a culturally sensitive environment.
The ward accepts patients with various diagnoses, including mental illness, learning disability, brain injury, autism spectrum disorder, or personality disorder.
You will work as part of the Medium Secure Division and support other wards within this role.
The role of the Nurse Manager/Ward Manager
You will have managerial and operational responsibility for your ward, ensuring high performance and operational excellence. Your effective day-to-day support and leadership will be crucial in maintaining quality care. There is also scope for innovation, as you will lead efforts to improve the quality and operational management of your wards.
What you will need for this role
Experience in a management position and proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) are preferred. A positive outlook, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills are essential. We seek managers who can inspire teams, set a clear vision, influence others, and embrace change enthusiastically.
