This is an existing post that has become vacant. It attracts approximately 10 Programmed Activities including a non – resident night per week on call and a 1:4 non-resident weekend on call.
It would be expected that the post holder would not be covering services on other sites or in private practice when on call.
You must hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and entry on Specialist Register or in receipt of CCT within six months of interview, be an accredited colposcopist, and be competent in laparoscopic hysterectomies.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to promote high professional standards of clinical care and undertake appropriate administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of the department.
The main duties include:
* Gynaecology and Ante-Natal out-patient clinics
* Colposcopy clinics
* Special interest clinics
* Theatre
* Labour ward cover

Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals, and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.

Person specification
Education & Qualifications
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* MRCOG
* Colposcopy ATSM
* BSCCP accredited Colposcopist
* Advanced laparoscopic surgery for excision of benign disease
* Advance Benign abdominal surgery ATSM
* Advanced Laparoscopic surgery skills
Experience
* Experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
* Active involvement in clinical audit
Skills, ability and Knowledge
* Sound understanding of risk management
* Experience contributing to requirements of CNST and other external regulators
