Job Objectives and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading planned maintenance activities, assisting the Shift Engineering Manager and Maintenance Planner in daily maintenance planning and execution.
1. Employ Reliability and continuous improvement principles to drive production equipment availability, performance, and continuous improvement.
2. Ensure all departmental procedures are followed so that operational and engineering key performance indicators are achieved.
3. Ensure compliance with Company Policies and Procedures.
4. Promote and lead process and production continuous improvement.
5. Be a champion and promoter of Engineering Team development and capability training.
Main Duties
1. Strict adherence to all H&S work policies e.g. Lock out and Tag out (Isolation of all energy sources when undertaking any work) and Use of the Permit to Work/Enter system.
2. Personally demonstrate and lead safe behaviour support in the management of health & safety of engineering staff and contractors.
3. Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness to reduce accidents and near misses.
4. Able to understand and implement Good Manufacturing Practice and continuous improvement.
5. Inherent understanding of site hygiene, technical, QA, and Health & Safety requirements.
6. Ensure good manufacturing practice (GMP) is followed at all times. (Clean as you go, SOP adherence etc.).
7. Lead scheduled servicing and maintenance on all manufacturing equipment, ancillary, and associated plant.
8. Attend machine and equipment breakdowns in a timely manner and apply sound engineering principles in problem diagnosis and repair.
9. Assist the Engineering Shift Manager in his/her daily duties and attend Production and Engineering meetings as required.
10. Lead root cause analysis interventions to identify and subsequently rectify issues to deliver continuous improvement.
11. Lead and maintain good maintenance record keeping as required.
12. Support the Production Teams at all levels, lead continuous improvement and reduce downtime.
13. Support the Engineering Shift Managers and Maintenance Planner in controlling spares stock levels.
14. Attend training courses (internal and external) as required to build personal and Engineering Department capabilities.
15. Assist in training/mentoring other members of the Engineering Team or other Departments if required to do so.
16. Participate in Capital and improvement Projects as required.
17. Maintain good housekeeping practices within the Engineering Department and site wide as required.
The role involves manual handling and the ability to withstand working in cold storage conditions on a daily basis.
Days and hours of work:
4 on, 4 off (rotating) shift pattern - all days (6:00am - 6:00pm)
Who we are looking for:
1. Minimum HNC in either a mechanical or electrical discipline but must have a high level of multi-skill in electrical and mechanical disciplines and, ideally, a minimum of 5 years engineering experience (essential).
2. Experience of PLC Fault Finding and machine control systems knowledge (essential).
3. Good computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word (essential).
4. Excellent problem-solving skills (essential).
5. PLC Programming experience (desirable).
6. Knowledge and experience of multi-head weighing and filling equipment (desirable).
7. HACCP Experience and/or formal training (desirable).
8. Food Industry or FMCG experience (Highly desirable).
