As a Senior Communications Business Partner, you will have overall responsibility for internal and external communications strategy and delivery for our Building and Building Services operating units (divisions). These units deliver construction, facilities management and mechanical & electrical engineering across all our sectors and geographies. This role reports to the Skanska UK Communications Director.
What you'll do:
1. Develop and implement the communication strategy and plan (internal and external) for the assigned operating units, including delivery of tactical activities.
2. Provide counsel to executives about communications strategy, tactics and responses.
3. Develop and deliver the B2B and account-based marketing strategy and plan, including events, email marketing and paid social, aligning to Skanska’s brand position and value proposition.
4. Support employee engagement and delivery of internal change programmes through targeted, inclusive communications, leadership updates, regular news and town-hall events (digital and in-person).
5. Proactively own relationships with target media, developing and pitching editorial opportunities and lead crisis and issues communications for your areas of responsibility.
6. Manage Group Press Releases in line with stock market regulations and internal governance, liaising with internal stakeholders, including Investor Relations, and customers.
7. Contribute to driving the UK communications strategy and developing the newly restructured communications department, ensuring that our priorities are fully integrated with the overall business strategy.
8. Manage, develop and provide strategic direction for your direct report, an experienced communications business partner.
What you'll bring to the role:
9. Experience of working in a senior in-house role and practice in all of the core communications disciplines.
10. Passion and a proven track record for media relations, crisis and issues management and B2B marketing.
11. Excellent writing and comprehension skills with the ability to strategically join the dots.
12. Sound decision maker, with the ability to combine strong strategic thinking with hands-on implementation.
13. A strong relationship builder who can build rapport at every level, with the credibility and authority to engage and influence senior leaders.
14. Proactive, can-do and resourceful mindset, able to maximise impact and value and continuously improve within existing resources.
15. Resilience and agility, ability to prioritise and manage competing demands and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
A relevant degree/equivalent (eg English, journalism, marketing or PR) is an advantage, as is experience of construction, facilities management or similar engineering-based industries.
Location
The role is based at Skanska UK’s head office in Watford, with frequent travel to our central London office, 51 Moorgate. We always try to offer flexible working arrangements where possible, in line with business requirements. You will be expected to spend at least three days a week based in the offices or visiting projects. You can take a flexible approach to the remaining two days, dependent on your work commitments.
