About the Role The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Team are seeking a reliable and flexible person to lead their team of Communication Support Workers and direct and oversea the support of students at the college who are D/deaf or hearing impaired. As a member of SEND and ALS you must have good organisational skills, be confident to liaise with outside professional agencies, schools and parents, as well as build good working relationships with curriculum and college wide staff. Key Skills Good interpersonal skills are essential as well as a professional and presentable appearance as you will be a representative of the department and college. You will hold BSL Level 3 or above, have a good understanding and knowledge of FE and EHCP procedures. A qualification in SEN would be advantageous. You will need to be a good team player but equally motivated to work independently. Travel and liaison with schools is required to attend EHCP reviews and to promote the college to prospective students. Other duties include writing comprehensive support plans, arranging exam access arrangements, promoting and delivering Deaf Awareness advice.
