The courtyard is surrounded by unique shops, bars, cafés and restaurants, hosting a fabulous run of concerts from May to August. We have an array of artists lined up for the Summer, some of the shows announced so far are Busted, Rag’n’BoneMan, The Libertines, and many confirmed, with more to come We are seeking a dynamic, highly organized and driven individual to take on the role as General Manager for Peppermint, at The Piecehall, Halifax. Day to day, you will ensure operational and licensing procedures are being upheld to an exceptional standard, leading a team with a positive and dynamic “can do” attitude. The General Manager will be responsible for all bar operations on-site, reporting directly to the Senior Venue Manager. You should have strong commercial thinking and exceptional planning, organization, and operational skills from a large events background. Working closely with Peppermints Senior Management team, you will be responsible for all P&L management, overseeing rotas and stock ordering, and the delivery of excellent customer service. Key Accountabilities: Planning/Operational Responsibilities: · Work with the Venues Project Manager and Production Project Manager on the continued maintenance, optimisation, and occasional expansion of existing bars, including draught equipment, bar infrastructure, tills, and other established systems. · Create and oversee the project budget in collaboration with the finance business partner, ensuring smooth continuation from Year 1 and incorporating lessons learned to refine financial processes. · P&L for each event to be created and reviewed, ensuring alignment with Year 2 financial targets and leveraging historical data from Year 1. · Oversight of drink menus,q including product range and retail pricing, building on last year’s menu framework to deliver compelling offerings while maintaining profit margins. · Work collaboratively with Dreamland to ensure operations run smoothly and in sync, focusing on deliveries, load-in schedules, and aligning established systems for greater efficiency. · Ensure on-site budget targets (staffing, stock, and fixed costs) are met by monitoring and optimising processes already in place. · Support Dreamland in delivering the venue’s strategy and vision, utilising established protocols and enhancing them for Year 2 goals. · Dr ive the implementation of new and innovative strategies to build on previous successes, ensuring a positive guest experience and aiming to increase SPH. · Communicate process changes and updates to existing systems to all relevant teams, ensuring consistent alignment and clarity. · Uphold all company and venue policies, including compliance with licensing requirements, leveraging already established Year 1 frameworks. · Ensure reporting to Peppermint head office and Dreamland is upheld by all senior management, providing relevant Year 2 data and insights in each report. · Lead weekly update meetings with the Dreamland venue team and Peppermint team, focusing on performance tracking, continuous improvement, and refining established workflows. · Control the business’s financial performance, seeking to exceed the targets and margins set from Year 1, and continually refine processes for greater efficiency in Year 2. · Verify that every department completes all paperwork correctly, reinforcing the systems established and addressing any ongoing improvements. · Oversee on-site spending sign-off, ensuring expenditures remain within the refined Year 2 budget parameters while supporting operational needs Staffing: Oversight of recruitment & staffing procedures, with support from the staffing team Create staff rotas and liase with staffing agency, keeping staff levels in line with budgets. Develop the team to be the best that they can be. Promote from within and build a team spirit to create a happy working environment with a focus on hiring directly. Working with Peppermint FOH managers to ensure excellent customer service. Establish and maintain a high standard of staff performance. Stock: Oversight and management of all suppliers and stock management in the venue ensuring suitable stock levels for events and post event counts and reporting Oversight of drink menus, Make sure all sponsorship agreements are upheld and that staff are Internal/External Communication Lead weekly update meetings with the Dreamland event team. Regular feedback/event reports to Peppermint Directors. Ensure the operations team hold daily shift briefings to keep everyone informed. Regularly meet with the Dreamland team to communicate changes, events and improvements. Ensures that Client, company and statutory food & hygiene, H&S standards are maintained Ensure that all venue suppliers and technology, inclusive but not limited to staffing agencies, wholesalers and EPOS are working correctly and communicate any problems to Peppermint head office. Knowledge, Experience & Skills Personal License Holder Current First Aid Certificate (preferred, not essential) Minimum 4 years professional experience either in venues or events Budget and HR management experience Comfortable with excel Creating drinks menus, training and concepts Extensive knowledge of restaurant/bar operations Staff and rota management Sounds understanding of EPOS systems Stock management Extensive knowledge of compliance · OPERATING ENVIRONMENT & CONTEXT: Overtime is paid in summer months.
