Your Role
As a Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Lead within the Sustainable Infrastructure Service, you’ll be a vital part of our team providing commercial and cost management support at all stages of the project life cycle. You’ll be involved in developing cost estimates to support business case development, provide accurate cost management reporting and advice through scheme development and delivery, and assist in the management of contracts from initial placement to final account.
About You
We’re looking for a talented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial management team within the council. Holding a degree in Quantity Surveying (or an equivalent RICS accredited degree), you’ll have previous experience working on Highways projects and bring with you a good working knowledge of NEC4 ECC contracts and familiarity with the Method of Measurement for Highway Works. An effective communicator, you will have a professional, proactive approach to all aspects of your work. Experience in supervising the work of junior staff will be an advantage.
About Us
You will be joining a committed, supportive and diverse team of staff, consultants and partner organisations. We are proud of what we achieve together, delivering sustainable infrastructure schemes which will shape the future of transport in Stockport. There will be opportunities to develop your own skills and career as you play a key role in delivering commercial management services across a variety of projects alongside experienced professionals from across the service.
At Stockport Council we are one ambitious team on a mission to create opportunities for everyone who lives, works and spends time in the borough. We’re keen to recruit people with the right values and behaviours that can help us ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do.

Please note that we have made a commitment to improve the employment opportunities for people with disabilities, care leavers and ex-military personnel. As part of the Guaranteed Assessment Scheme you will therefore be guaranteed an interview if you meet both the criteria for the scheme and the essential job role criteria.
