An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Manager within the Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Programme at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
As part of the Data Management team, the post holder will provide a high quality data management and analysis service for patients undergoing a stem cell transplant and other cellular therapies. Applications are invited from experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individuals that can ensure efficient and accurate collection and transcription of complex clinical data.
Applicants must have proven data management experience, and experience of working in a clinical setting. A strong aptitude for using databases and the use of digital health record systems are important requirements of the role.
Main duties of the job
1. Be part of and to provide leadership for the data management team for Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and Cellular Therapies. The data management team for HSCT/Cell Therapy is responsible for efficient and accurate collection, transcription and analysis of complex clinical and research data for patients receiving transplantation of any kind of haematopoietic stem cells (to include paediatric, adolescent and young people and adult patients) and undergoing cellular therapies, e.g CAR-T cell therapy.
2. Responsible for recording and submitting transplant data to the European Bone Marrow Transplant (EBMT) registry via the EBMT Registry Database, in keeping with the requirements of the performance standards agreed with the Trust’s commissioners. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the EBMT database and for monitoring BMT activity across a range of internal Trust reports to ensure correct and prompt financial reporting and income generation.

3. Represent data management services to audiences within the trust through clear communication and participation
4. Develop the team’s data visualisation and interpretation capabilities to provide meaningful insights to the clinicians and service management.
5. Document data management processes, roles responsibilities and schedules.
6. To liaise with members of the medical and nursing teams and quality management teams to establish and maintain up-to-date minimum transplant databases and to design templates/Epic searches to facilitate real time data collection as appropriate.
7. Maintain a close working relationship with staff from the Cell Therapy Laboratory in order to obtain relevant data items for the transplant dataset.

8. Good education to include A levels, including a science subject or equivalent experience.

10. Training in database management e.g. Access and Excel, to at least intermediate level
11. Experience in a clinical or academic environment in a similar role
12. Minimum one year’s experience of retrieving and transcribing clinical or other complex data as a significant part of the role
13. Minimum one year’s experience in database administration and management
14. Working knowledge of hospital information systems

15. Experience of working in field of haematopoietic stem cell transplant/cell therapy
16. Experience of staff management
17. Working knowledge of statistical software e.g. SPSS or STATA or R
18. Development of procedures and preparation of SOPs
Skills Abilities/knowledge

19. Strong aptitude for using IT packages (especially spreadsheets, databases, PowerPoint and Digital Health Records), to record, analyse and present complex data
20. Good written communication skills to include the preparation of reports and presentations

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
