Consortium are representing a large manufacturing company in Hull who are looking to appoint an experienced Category Buyer. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the performance of suppliers, sourcing new products and suppliers, reducing costs ensuring KPI targets are met, inline with company targets. About the role: As Category Buyer, your duties will include: Reduce costs year-on-year based on set performance metrics. Achieve the best possible total acquisition cost. Develop and implement overarching commodity strategies. Collaborate with existing and new suppliers on key strategic projects. Find and approve new suppliers. Develop new products by working closely with quality assurance and assisting with initial sample inspections. Partner with suppliers to implement lean manufacturing principles. Establish commercial and service agreements with current and new suppliers. Manage and develop supplier relationships. Work with internal stakeholders to improve the supply chain. Hold regular supply chain review meetings with internal and external parties. Assess supplier and commodity risks and create contingency plans. Help resolve supply chain problems. Maintain accurate pricing information in the company system. About the candidate: A highly motivated and results-oriented professional with a proven track record in procurement. Experience in developing and implementing cost-saving strategies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A team player with the ability to build strong relationships. Previous experience of procurement within manufacturing is essential Experience of working with MRP systems The role is paying up to £40,000 for the right candidate and offers generous holiday entitlement and other benefits.
