The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) supports the Police and Crime Commissioner serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The OPCC provides a link between Hampshire & Isle Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) and the communities they serve through setting the budget and holding the Chief Constable to account in the delivery of an efficient and effective service.
As a Governance Support & Customer Services Officer, you will provide the gateway into the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Hampshire & the Isle of Wight (OPCC HIOW), dealing with visitors, telephone calls, emails, and other communications in an efficient, effective, and professional manner, as well as providing administrative and other business support for all teams and tasks delegated by line management.
Working alongside another team member, this role will mainly focus on supporting the Complaints Review and Hearings Manager.
About the Role
Your role will occupy an important position in the OPCC HIOW and will have responsibility for delivering a range of administrative support, particularly the preparation and logistical arrangements related to police misconduct hearings and complaints. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Providing a front office/reception facility for the OPCC, answering telephone calls and welcoming visitors for meetings and other events;
* Receiving, managing, and dealing with incoming correspondence, ensuring timely responses are provided by the appropriate team member, and reporting to the post-holder’s line manager on volume and the topics raised;
* Taking on an appropriate volume and level of casework as delegated by the post-holder’s line manager;
* Assisting with day-to-day administrative functions such as room bookings, diary management, meeting preparation, minute taking, and ordering office supplies. This will mainly focus on administrative support to misconduct hearing preparation;
* Providing basic financial management relating to the ordering of goods and services used within the office, including the completion of monthly reconciliation tasks and dealing with purchase orders;
