Wood Hill Lodge Nursing Home
522 Grimesthorpe Road, Sheffield, S4 8LE
Wood Hill Lodge is a nursing home in Sheffield and an opportunity has arisen for an experienced maintenance operative to join the team. The role is focused on ensuring that small-medium maintenance requirements are attended to on site, ideally by the Maintenance Operative or with a local contractor having been tasked to attend the Home to remedy an issue.
Maintenance in the nursing home is largely scheduled, carrying out regular tests for fire and legionella. Reactive maintenance is also required to attend to breakages and/or wear and tear in the Home.
There are four nursing homes in the Portland Care Group and each has its own Maintenance Operative. Operatives liaise with colleagues in neighbouring Homes and with the Facilities Manager, based in Head Office, Glasgow.
The successful candidate will be a generalist in building maintenance, having skills in areas such as plumbing, joinery, painting/decorating, and electrical work. It is essential that the Operative is proactive, able to act on their own initiative, solve issues, and anticipate issues arising, taking action in advance to prevent maintenance problems.
You would be joining a positive care team, where we focus on delivering and creating a living environment for the residents that is relaxed and comfortable.
You must hold a valid UK driving licence, be a good communicator, and work well with a team. With the role being in the Care Sector, it is essential that written records are well maintained and kept up to date, as they will be subject to audit by the Care Quality Commission and Local Authorities from time to time.
