Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent Location: Porton Down, Salisbury SP4 0JQ with travel to Portsdown West (1 week in 4) Working Hours: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM Here at VIVO we are looking for a Trainee Health and Safety Advisor to support our operational teams on our Porton Down and Portsdown West sites. You will be working with the Health and Safety Manager to provide guidance and solutions to ensure work activities of VIVO employees and subcontractors are completed in a safe manner. You will ensure that all works are compliant with current regulations and adhere to Safety Operating Procedures held within VIVO. This role will see you responsible for providing support with any health and safety requirements related to the delivery of preventive planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, and Billable Works requirements, ensuring records are kept up to date. You will be supporting the estate as SME advisor on all H&S, Fire Safety and Environmental matters and technologies within the building environment, carrying out Accident/Incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are realised and achievable. As well as running project activities as agreed within the SHEF activities, whilst ensuring all works are in compliance with VIVO/DSTL Billable Works governance process. And throughout all of this you will comply with all relevant Health and Safety procedures, ensuring the requirements of Health and Safety at Work act and Environmental legislation are always met and records maintained. As this is a trainee role, you will be put through a NEBOSH course in order to attain the qualification. What You’ll Need To Do This Role Firstly it is essential that you have previous experience Health and Safety management, preferably in construction. You must have demonstrable knowledge of current and relevant H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015 and MOD Safety Rules, along with experience working within a team. It is essential that you hold a clean and valid UK driving licence as you will be travelling to Porton Down using a pool car. It is desirable but not essential that you hold NEBOSH certification, along with experience in Asbestos management It is desirable that you have experience of operating within an MOD environment and have familiarity with geography and establishments within area of responsibility. You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role. You must be a British Citizen to be eligible for this role.
