Job Title: Full-Time Teaching Assistant
We are a welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Ebbw Vale dedicated to supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioral challenges. We are seeking a passionate and proactive Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will support students in their learning and personal development, helping to create a positive and inclusive school environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Work alongside teachers to deliver tailored educational support to students.
2. Provide one-to-one and small group assistance to pupils with SEN, including those with ASD and behavioral needs.
3. Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
4. Help students develop key skills such as communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
5. Contribute to maintaining a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
6. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to provide holistic support to students.
7. Participate in school activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
8. Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior as required.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and behavioral challenges, is highly advantageous.
2. NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or an equivalent qualification) is preferred but not essential.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the individual needs of every child.
5. Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the varied needs of the school.
6. A basic understanding of SEN interventions and behavior management strategies.
