Head of Talent and Development

Newcastle – 3 days a week in office
Network HR have been retained on a new engagement to recruit a Head of Talent and Development for a Financial Services organisation based in Newcastle. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Head of Talent and Development will form part of a newly created People function, and will have responsibility for leading the organisation’s talent, learning and development strategy. The main focus of the role will be to implement and embed the talent strategy and amplify the performance of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the organisation’s approach to executive and leadership development, working in partnership with the Chief People Officer to deliver outstanding, best in class investment in exec and leadership capability.
2. Build a talent and development strategy that supports the firm’s objectives and engages the workforce.
3. Develop a comprehensive talent management and succession planning approach to attract, engage and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
4. Develop a comprehensive approach to talent and development that identifies training needs, supports professional and personal development, and nurtures careers in both regulated and non-regulated roles.
5. Coach and develop senior leaders across the group on a one-to-one basis.
6. Lead the employee engagement process and initiatives.
7. Lead the DEI agenda ensuring the Group maintains an external view of DEI trends and movements.
8. Support and embed the performance management framework and process alongside the wider HR team.
9. Support in the selection of learning and training vendors and manage relationships and deliverables to optimise learning impact, as well as guide learning initiatives created and delivered by external vendors.
Candidate Background
1. Proven experience as a Talent Development Specialist with responsibility for leading a talent strategy, ideally gained within a Financial Services environment.
2. Experience developing and coaching leaders.
3. Experience of dealing with external vendors and managing a learning budget.
4. Strong interest in DEI.
5. Experience of Learning Management Systems.
