As an Agile worker your main base will be Motherwell Civic Centre however this role is predominately field based and will require you to visit various council sites around North Lanarkshire, including educational establishments.
You will be part of a team with a remit to design, develop and maintain the council’s ICT infrastructure, supporting the council to meet the needs of its internal customers, utilising and developing IT solutions that make best use of technology to provide efficient, secure and effective services. This post is within the Telecomms Team within the Infrastructure Section, working predominately with Cisco technologies.
You should have an SVQ3, HNC or equivalent in an ICT related subject, preferably with accreditations or training in ICT Technology subjects, such as Cisco CCNA. Training and qualifications in other related best practice subjects such as Prince2, ITIL, management and leadership is desirable.
You will have extended work experience in an ICT infrastructure development and support role and be able to demonstrate experience and capability of interpreting and defining customer requirements. You will have good knowledge and technical understanding of ICT infrastructure technologies, particularly for Cisco Networking, Cisco Voice and Data Cabling design and specifications.
Your main responsibilities will typically include handling, maintaining, monitoring, installing and providing support for network hardware, software and communication links, working to SLAs and providing detailed, technical and operational documentation. Candidates shall have some knowledge and proficiency in some of the following areas: Data Cabling specifications, Switching and Routing technologies, Voice, Wireless; and experience with Cisco Networking and Data Cabling design.
As a developing IT Professional you will be able to demonstrate technical analytical and problem solving skills, be self-motivated and organised, be able to work to targets and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good oral and written communication skills are also essential.
Demonstrable knowledge of Cyber security practices and standards is desirable as is experience of project work.
