Our client is seeking a dynamic Project Planner to join their project management team, specialising within the Defence Maritime industry. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing project schedules for multiple projects or programmes.
As a Project Planner, you will be collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineering Lead, Project Risk Manager, and Scrum Master, creating and updating project schedules, ensuring they reflect task progress, dependencies, resource availability, risks, and any emergent work. You will ensure the schedule is continuously updated to mirror project events, providing clear insights on impacts and options to management, customers, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities as a Project Planner:
1. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules outlining tasks, milestones, deadlines, and dependencies.
2. Collaborate with the Project Risk Manager to ensure schedules incorporate identified risks and mitigation strategies.
3. Work with the Project Manager, Engineering Lead, and Scrum Master to track task progress and ensure accurate updates in project schedules.
4. Support resource forecasting in both the short and long term.
5. Regularly update project schedules to account for resource changes, risk occurrences, emergent work, and contract modifications.
6. Monitor project timelines, adjusting as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
7. Provide regular reports and updates to the project management team, clearly outlining the impacts of project events and decision points.
8. Serve as the project planning expert within the business, driving process improvements.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
1. Strong knowledge of project management tools, including Microsoft Project.
2. Experience planning complex, multi-disciplinary development projects.
3. Understanding of project risk management and its effects on scheduling.
4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery methodologies is desirable.
6. Working knowledge of JIRA or similar task management tools is a plus.
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
8. A collaborative team player with enthusiasm and motivation.
9. Experience working in a team-based, multi-disciplinary development environment.
