We are seeking a
Business Controller Assistant
to join our Voyage Services Business Control team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their FP&A or accounting career who is eager to develop their skills in a dynamic, international finance environment.
The preferred location for the position is in Fareham (UK), but Helsinki (Finland) and Belgrade (Serbia) are also possible locations.
What you will be doing
You will play an integral role in supporting the month-end close, budgeting and forecasting cycles, and billing processes. The position involves working closely with Business Controllers, broader finance teams, and key business stakeholders across entities and systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working with large volumes of transactional data and accounting journals, and who enjoys contributing to process improvements and business performance analysis.
As Business Controller Assistant your work will focus on these responsibilities:
* Month-End Process Support:
o Prepare month-end journals, including labour absorption entries
o Perform cost allocation tasks across cost centres and entities
o Create and monitor internal billing requests across multiple ERP systems
o Reconcile data across systems and upload to MDS
o Ensure data accuracy and consistency for financial reporting
* Create Service Agreement invoices in SAP
* Coordinate with internal teams to validate billing data
* Reporting:
o Run regular financial and operational reports
o Update monthly reporting decks
* Budgeting and long-term planning:
o Prepare excel templates
o Support Business Controllers in budget data collection, consolidation, and analysis
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
* Minimum 3 years of experience in FP&A, accounting, or financial operations
* Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* High level of comfort with large datasets and transactional accounting data
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; SAP experience is a strong advantage
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Effective communicator in English (written and verbal)
* Comfortable working in a matrixed, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
* Eagerness to learn and adapt as business needs evolve
