Design Engineer / Design Draughtsperson
Established in 1984, HL Engineering Contractors are looking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer/Draughtsperson to join our team based in Scunthorpe. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to be appreciated as a key member of our dedicated engineering team.
We require a Pipe Design Engineer / Design Draughtsperson with 3 years+ experience in Pipe Work.
Responsibilities:
1. Design pipe work including understanding PNIDs.
2. Attend sites to survey and produce outline designs and 3D models.
3. Complete a full set of manufacturing drawings for the fabrication shop.
4. Work using own initiative and under pressure while producing accurate comprehensive manufacturing details.
5. Attend design review meetings with clients on site as required.
6. Work closely within an engineering team to develop bespoke design solutions for pipework and structural steel work projects.
7. Conduct site surveying to enable engineering drawings in a wide range of industries and environments.
8. Quickly produce 3D tender models using Autodesk Plant3D or similar design packages.
9. Participate in tender packages with input into design for both costs and quality optimisation.
10. Produce both GA and detail fabrication drawings, including pipework drawings and understanding PNIDs.
Skills Required:
1. Experience of working on a variety of pipework and structural steel work projects.
2. Proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D, able to produce 3D layouts and models, including fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
3. Working knowledge of Advance Steel or other 3D software would be advantageous.
4. Ability to import/export and insert files from different software packages, including stp files and Tekla models.
5. Experience of working with laser scanned data, point clouds, etc.
6. Experience of using Navisworks to manage, coordinate and create models.
7. Competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel for producing documentation, reports, drawing registers, material and bolt lists.
8. Capable of understanding piping design calculations and stress reports.
9. Ability to work collaboratively with clients, design engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
10. Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task on multiple projects simultaneously.
11. Experience in interpretation of engineering and quality specifications and scopes.
12. Proven experience in a similar role.
13. Assist with procurement on projects.
14. Preferably Apprentice trained in engineering trade or management role.
15. Excellent communication skills.
16. Computer literate.
17. Knowledge of CE Regulations.
18. UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel and carry out surveying work across the UK.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. Pay: £35,000.00-£49,500.00 per year.
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday.
Ability to commute/relocate: Scunthorpe: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
