1. To provide biological, psychological, and social care-based medical treatment for service users by means of a Care Programme Approach (CPA). 2. To promote service users mental and physical well-being within the Care Act 2014. 3. To mitigate risk of harm to self and others. 4. To promote equality and challenge stigma and discrimination. 5. To safeguard the human rights of service users and their nearest relatives. 6. To promote and implement multi agency working. 7. Whilst the AMHP has a responsibility to coordinate and undertake MHA assessment, it is also important to recognise that the AMHP role is integral in preventing the necessity for compulsory hospital admission under the Act. 8. The main role is to carry out statutory requirements as indicated in the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007). 9. To ensure that MHA assessments adhere to relevant legislations, regulations, local policies, and Code of Practice. 10. To provide social supervision for service users under s37/41 of MHA 1983 (2007) and complete reports for the Ministry of Justice. 11. Managing complex cases by carrying out risk assessments, care planning and implementing contingency plans and coordinating resources within the framework of care programme approach. 12. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in compliance with legal requirements, data protection and confidentiality policies. 13. To maintain professional registration and attend statutory training. 14. To contribute to the professional development of Social Workers and students/trainees through supervision and training. 15. To implement safeguarding enquiry procedures under s42 of Care Act 2014. 16. To be cost conscious and liaise with the commissioning and funding panels to negotiate cost effect services according to the needs of service users and the Boroughs charging policies. 17. To explore the least restrictive options and facilitate support in the community by coordinating resources and working with partner agencies.
