Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced and creative individual to join the Learning Disability Services for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust – completing sensory integration assessments for people with learning disabilities and being part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be based with the Halton Community Learning Disability Team, Bridges Learning Centre Widnes, but will cover Halton, Warrington, St Helens & Knowsley.
In return you will join a supportive and enthusiastic team and receive management and clinical supervision.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake sensory integration assessments for people with learning disabilities.
2. To provide leadership and highly specialist clinical expertise in the provision of Occupational Therapy to adults who have learning disabilities.
3. To provide an Occupational Therapy service which is inclusive of best practice, evidence-based practice and is outcome-focused.
4. To formulate flexible, robust and holistic care plans with service users and/or carers that aim to guide service users towards reaching an optimum level of functioning and support them to maintain good mental health.
5. To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team in providing and coordinating a therapeutic, person-centred treatment and care pathway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To provide leadership within the sphere of responsibility in the delivery of the Occupational Therapy Service.
2. To be accountable for the delivery of the Occupational Therapy interventions and producing outcome measures of the service.
3. To ensure compliance for senior occupational therapy staff against the outcomes of the Trust’s quality dashboard.
4. To be responsible for a caseload of service users and complete standardised and non-standardised assessments.
5. To work within the model of recovery-led practice and facilitate user involvement in all aspects of service delivery.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
* Evidence of post qualification study/short courses and Continuing Professional Development
* Health and Care Professions Council Registration
* Post Graduate Certificate in Occupational Therapy, Leadership and/or Organisational Change up to Master level Practice Placement Educator Training
KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE:
* Current legislation and national initiatives related to older adults with mental health problems
* Minimum of three years post qualifying experience as an Occupational Therapist
* Experience of working with older adults with mental health problems
