Principal Geo-Science Consultant
The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity in subsurface consulting to work across a wide range of projects, clients, geology and countries.
Tetra Tech RPS Energy is seeking a Principal Geoscience Consultant to lead small projects or participate in a team delivering significant projects within the Technical Advisory group, encompassing the disciplines of Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering, costs engineering, facilities and economics.
Location for this role is flexible. Most of our team is based in Woking, we can also consider hybrid working with travel for team meetings. We have flexible working opportunities, including part time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.
About The Role:
* Apply technical and business skills as project lead and within a project team to deliver complete, high quality end products & recommendations with client satisfaction achieved.
* Management of multi-disciplinary teams evaluating exploration, appraisal, development projects and producing fields.
* Working knowledge of related disciplines (petrophysics, reservoir engineering, production engineering, facilities engineering, cost estimation, petroleum contracts and economics).
* Hands-on technical geoscience skills e.g. seismic interpretation, static model building.
* Knowledge of subsurface aspects of underground energy storage (temporary eg CH4, H2, CAES or permanent eg CO2).
* Thorough understanding of Reserve and Resource classification using PRMS (and ideally COGEH).
* Thorough understanding of probabilistic estimation of in-place volumes (considering appropriate uncertainties and risks).
* Use detailed knowledge of resource classifications to critically evaluate client assessments.
* Lead the building of geoscience internal knowledge base, working models, approaches across industry topics.
* Detailed understanding of requirements for independent Reserve reports and/or CPRs for various jurisdictions (particularly UK, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore Stock Exchanges).
* Occasional international travel to attend client meetings, physical data rooms and conferences may be required.
* Grow TTRPSE intellectual knowledge through client engagements and industry best practice.
* Work with the TTRPSE bid team to lead the delivery of proposals & conclude sales of large projects.
* Coach junior colleagues on advanced technical aspects of work and in-depth sector knowledge.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in a Geoscience discipline, or related field.
* Significant experience in the oil & gas industry and expert in specific sectors/topics.
* Significant experience in project management.
* Previous experience in business development.
* PhD and/or MBA in a related field is advantageous.
* Chartership highly desirable.
* A well-respected trusted advisor to clients within the industry.
