Our client, an Aerospace and Defence supplier is looking for a Security Vetting Officer to join them on a 6 month initial contract at their site in Cheltenham.
1. Due to the nature of the role, we are only able to consider sole British nationals and you must be eligible for SC Clearance.
2. £260 p/d Umbrella or £197 p/d PAYE.
3. Due to the nature of the role, this will be predominately onsite in Cheltenham.
Responsible for effective security control within the Company and the continuous development and effective day to day management and delivery of security policy, procedures, risk assessment, management and general security processes. Ultimately responsible for implementation of National Security Vetting within the Company and any subordinate organisations. The Security Controller will ensure that all activities are managed and undertaken promptly and effectively, liaising with HR and facilities and other functions as necessary.
4. Ensure the Company's Personnel Security business processes are compliant with relevant legislation, and that the Company operates according to the principles embedded in relevant Government standards.
5. Facilitate where necessary visits and inspections by individuals representing either the Government or Contracting Authority and to ensure any relevant documentation, process or records are available for inspection.
6. Interpret, implement and monitor security controls for the appropriate maintenance of personnel security for National Security Vetted (NSV) staff. Be qualified and trained to be capable of executing SC clearance process.
7. Responsible for ensuring the senior managers are aware of and discharge their security obligations and business choices in respect of security risks and controls.
8. Responsible for ensuring the Board, and senior managers are aware of and discharge their security obligations and business choices in respect of personnel security risks and controls.
9. Own and maintain a security aspects letter register.
10. Own and maintain a security Risk Register where risks are identified, documented, tracked, mitigated and monitored.
11. Lead the Security Working Group as management support for security initiatives across the business.
12. Liaise within the Company, and between the Company and Security Officials of the relevant Contracting Authority, on security related issues.
13. Advise management on the interpretation and implementation of contractual and, where appropriate, legislative or regulatory security controls.
14. Advise on the appropriate security controls for new contracts.
15. Prepare and implement the Company Security Instructions, liaise with other disciplines such as HR and IT to ensure security is considered and embedded within all appropriate policies.
16. Ensure that all policies are made available to, and understood by all employees, updating them as necessary.
17. Ensure that processes are in place to brief/de-brief Security Check (SC) and Developed Vetting (DV) cleared staff who may travel to certain foreign countries, either on business or in their private life.
18. Arrange for appropriate security education and awareness training, ensuring that staff understand the scale, nature of the threats and security actions required.
19. Ensure that security education and training is an integral part of the employee's time with the Company, covering induction, ongoing security awareness and education and termination/exit from the Company.
