The Vacancy
The Metrology & NDT team are looking for a Technology Manager to join them based in Coventry.
* As a Technology Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and delivery of a specific function, or the technical delivery of a large programme of work, within part of the MTC’s Technology Group, or Industrial Sectors.
* You will be accountable to the Associate Director for the delivery of your role. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues in the management teams within the Technology Group and Industrial Sectors to deliver the corporate objectives of the MTC and ensure alignment and effective delivery of functional and business unit strategies.
Main Responsibilities:
* Work with colleagues in the same functional role to deliver the corporate objectives of the MTC and ensure alignment and effective delivery of functional strategies.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues in the same management team to deliver the objectives of the business unit or large project.
* Work with senior managers to deliver the corporate objectives of MTC and to lead or contribute to specific business initiatives or continuous improvement activities.
* Work collegiately with all or some of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult network of centres, MTC’s academic partners & Members and appropriate sub-contractors.
* Represent the MTC’s and the role’s interests at all internal and external meetings.
* Work with MTC’s Marketing Department to produce case studies and other media that demonstrate the impact that MTC is having.
* Coaching and mentoring direct reports, and other colleagues as required.
* Responsible for your own and your colleague’s health and safety, reporting any concerns, near-misses or accidents.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
* Degree-calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or physicist.
* Management and leadership skills along with knowledge and experience in this management role.
* Able to think strategically.
* Adept at using Microsoft toolset: Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
Technical expertise in ultrasonic inspection methods and in-depth knowledge of additional NDT techniques, including:
* Electromagnetic based inspection (Eddy current testing).
* Thermographic inspection.
* Radiation based inspection methodologies (2D X-ray, XCT).
* Image based inspection methodologies (visual inspection, hyperspectral imaging).
AND/OR demonstrable technical expertise and application of technologies through previous project work, including tactile measurement technologies and non-contact 3D point cloud gathering systems.
* Strong reputation for understanding Digital Engineering technologies and their manufacturing applications.
* Commercially aware.
* Excellent communication skills.
As a Manager, you will be involved in debating policies, practices and values emerging from within the business.
