We are currently seeking a dynamic individual for the permanent position of Team Manager - Safeguarding Team, based in Wigston. We are seeking a Social Work Team Manager, with current Social Work England registration, with extensive social work experience in a child protection statutory setting. Preferably with some management experience. You will provide leadership to your team, who will consist of a senior practitioner, 4 social workers, support and assessment workers (who undertake parenting assessments) and 2 support staff (who supervise contact) You will be responsible for allocating and prioritising workloads effectively to ensure the care of the child is paramount, whilst also ensuring you develop your team to provide an effective and efficient service. The right candidate will have responsibility for the whole team and will be expected to meet objectives and ensure performance targets are achieved. Children’s safeguarding teams complete work with children who are subject to child protection plans, and Public Law Outline/initial care proceedings. Utilising a relationship/trauma-based approach, where the young person is at the heart of everything we do. A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post. About You To apply for this post, you must have: Social Work degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipSW (with specialism in children’s services), approved by Social Work England and evidence of continuing professional development. Experience of statutory childcare social work, including Child in Need, safeguarding, child protection and care proceedings. Experience of supervising staff and/or social work students. Management experience. Experience of using performance indicators to monitor and improve performance. Ability to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager.
