PROJECT ENGINEER

Our client is recruiting an M&E Project Engineer who is based in Southwest England or South Wales to work on National Grid contracts. As a Project Engineer, you will be part of our Electricity Transmission Team, which is responsible for supporting the delivery of nationwide substation projects. You'll work with National Grid on replacing capital equipment and building new substations.
Working with electrical transmission companies with diverse operations in Infrastructure Project Development, EPC Projects, and refurbishment of existing infrastructure, you will be expected to manage multiple mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, including instrumentation systems, telecommunications, quality assurance and control processes, and health and safety.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate the execution of projects for the company.
* Ensure effective integration and management of the project design and delivery process, inclusive of technical design, build, commercial and programme management for projects.
* Coordinate project programme development with Site Managers and Project Planners and ensure timely submission of programme updates to the client.
* Prepare and submit project completion/handover documentation, including Health and Safety File information and Inspection Test Plans.
* Coordinate drawing markups with Site Managers, develop as-built drawings, and ensure submission to the client in line with contractual key dates.
* Raise and manage technical queries, ensuring their timely close and implementation.
* Manage the project procurement schedule whilst implementing and tracking changes.
* Coordinate with key suppliers and subcontractors and attend Factory Acceptance Tests.
* Attend project sites to support the delivery team.
* Manage the company’s defect and non-conformance process across projects.
* Assist the site manager with the procurement of materials.
Person Specification:
* Previous electrical engineering experience gained within the Electrical Transmission or distribution sector is essential.
* Extensive relevant work experience in construction management and delivering capital projects.
* Ability to develop and work within collaborative client relationships.
* Strong presentation skills and confidence to chair meetings.
* Good relationship management skills.
* A sound knowledge of IT skills, Microsoft Office products and SharePoint.
* Experience of National Grid projects is desirable but not essential.
Package:
* £55,000-60,000 per annum.
