DHSC is responsible for ensuring the system consistently delivers a high standard of care, and secures the best possible value for money from over £160bn of taxpayer’s funds allocated by Parliament. The finance function plays a crucial role in enabling the Department to fulfil its strategic objectives.
This role is in the Finance Operations team, which is responsible for delivery of the critical finance functions for the department, including maintaining and developing finance systems and business intelligence and working alongside colleagues responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, supplier maintenance, cash, transparency reporting, tax and buying coordinator requisitioning.
The role itself is focused on our finance systems and on building our capability in data visualisation and analysis. We are ambitious in our aim to innovate, take advantage of a range of emerging technologies and drive creative change to benefit our stakeholders.

The role will require leadership of the development of new data analytical products and managing existing systems. Close liaison with stakeholders will be vital to deliver innovative solutions.
The postholder will lead and manage the delivery of data, automation and analysis. Working closely with colleagues responsible for systems and data, maintaining delivery of current products and creating innovative solutions including the use of data visualisation.
The postholder will demonstrate a highly customer-focussed approach, with clear stakeholder benefits being forefront to team outputs. Understanding and reflecting customer requirements is central to the team's approach. Because of this, effective communication and collaboration are core skills required for the role.
Responsibilities include oversight of established systems with the opportunity to contribute to the management of external suppliers, and the inception of new, internally-delivered data and analysis products developed through close liaison with stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the delivery of multiple projects to develop and improve the Department’s finance systems and use of data analysis, working closely with stakeholders across the finance function, the wider department and across government.
The finance function also offers multiple learning and development opportunities, including options to study for financial qualifications and leadership development programmes.
