The role of ‘IT Manager – Transport Systems’ is new within the IT team at Booker, and they will be responsible for supporting and delivering effective, secure, and efficient systems for use by our transport teams. We seek an expert and dynamic senior manager who can help own the IT transport team by collaborating with external vendors, consultants, and internal IT teams to ensure successful project and service delivery within defined timelines and budgets.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading transport systems and possess an outstanding blend of technical expertise, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
The right candidate will help drive the successful delivery of our systems roadmap through -
* Collaborating with multi-functional teams to complete an end to end review of the existing distribution and cash and carry transport systems. The candidate will then be encouraged to processes and define business requirements, developing a forward-looking roadmap, and ensuring successful execution.
* Running the end-to-end life cycle of projects ranging in complexity and criticality.
* Encouraging organisational change efforts by encouraging the benefits of digital transformation, promoting user adoption, and addressing any resistance or challenges.
* Enabling the Stop/Simplify/Automate methodology to streamline business processes and drive operational efficiency.
* Encouraging a culture of opportunity and growth, focusing on supporting and developing colleagues and promoting collaboration.
* Experience in managing transport planning and fleet management systems and services.
* Strong people management, with proven ability to effectively manage team capability and performance.
* Proven experience in technical project management and successful delivery of change programmes.
* Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with transport planning and fleet management systems.
* Experience of delivering business critical IT services and managing both internal and external service providers.
* Building credible and long-lasting relationships with business stakeholders.
* Proven track record of managing working relationships with external development teams.

* Experience of working in an FMCG environment.
* Good understanding of IT security and data privacy standards.
* Experience of transport operations in the food service, wholesale or retail grocery sectors is desirable.
