The Role
In this lab-based role, you'll be helping us to extend our capabilities with your excellent enthusiasm for testing, and general skills in engineering across the mechanical, electronics, and embedded software disciplines. An openness to learning will be critical to your success in this role, and we expect the successful candidate to actively engage in learning opportunities Basis provides (and there will be plenty!).
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
1. Design: Perform the conceptual and detailed design of test equipment, covering software, electrical/electronics, and mechanical.
2. Build: Make/assemble test equipment, including: mechanical components/assembly; electrical components/connections; connections to sensors and data capture hardware; and writing code/UI to operate the test equipment/procedures.
3. Manage: Liaise with external parties for the manufacture of components/assemblies for test equipment.
4. Support: Liaise with suppliers to support the use of Basis test equipment in external manufacturing environments.
5. Analysis: Analyse test results for summarising results and identifying trends.
6. Communicate: Transfer information and findings from testing and analysis across the organisation in ways that make the information easily accessible to all audiences.
7. Test Execution: Including sample preparation, operating equipment, monitoring tests, collecting data and creating test reports.
Please note: the successful candidate must be able to travel to China at least twice a year.
About You
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills or traits:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechatronics or similar
2. Exposure to Python, 3D CAD programs and electrical/electronic circuit design is required
3. Worked in (or with) a commercial business on engineering project(s)
4. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
6. Ability to take initiative, follow through on what you say you’ll do, and own your mistakes
7. Determination and tenacity, maintaining a positive attitude in challenging situations
8. View challenges as opportunities for growth, adapt positively to change and embrace feedback
Some nice to haves include:
1. 1-2 years hands-on experience in a test engineering or similar role
