Job summary To co-ordinate the activity of plastic trauma patients through the plastic trauma treatment room on the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) this involves new referrals, liaising with theatres, wards, A&E, surgical team and GP's. To ensure that plastic surgery patients are managed in a timely, efficient manner according to their needs To ensure optimum utilisation of available theatre time To assist with the assessments of patients, performing dressing changes where appropriate To assist the plastic surgical team in the care of patients during and after minor plastic procedures To ensure patients receive high quality expert clinical care. To promote an environment that is safe and provides high quality patient focused care every time. Act as a resource for patients and their families, regarding matters around their care Ensure that coding for plastic patients is correctly captured This involves the application of the NMC code of conduct and the Trust's CARE values Main duties of the job Ensure all patients referred to the plastic trauma clinic on SAU are reviewed and assessed by the junior plastics doctor as promptly as possible. Work with the plastics surgical team to ensure safe practice and care of patients during and after minor plastic procedures Act as a scrub nurse during minor operating procedures in MOPS room Clearly communicate any decision to admit patients with the clinical site team and the SAU nurse in charge Responsibly always supervise all nurses and students adhering to the NMC code of Professional Conduct.
