Rate of Pay: £13.69 - £17.02 per Hour
Summary:
We are seeking Gardeners to join the Borough Grounds Department to support a variety of gardening and maintenance tasks across public spaces. This is a fixed-term position running from 1st April to 30th September, with the possibility of early termination if required. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing physical tasks, and collaborating within a team environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Gardening & Maintenance: Perform a variety of gardening duties, including planting, weeding, bedding maintenance, and lawn care. Operate petrol-powered horticultural machinery and manual tools to maintain grounds to a high standard. Ensure all equipment is used safely and effectively following established protocols.
2. Physical Labour: Carry out duties requiring manual handling, including bending, lifting, and carrying materials. Work safely and efficiently while meeting physical demands in outdoor environments.
3. Driving & Transportation: Drive and operate light goods vehicles as required for transporting materials, tools, and team members between work sites. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any mechanical issues promptly.
4. Team Collaboration: Work as part of a cohesive team to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to specification.
5. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, including safe handling of machinery and materials. Identify and report hazards and work safely in all weather conditions.
Essential:
1. Full, valid UK driving license suitable for light goods vehicles.
2. Basic knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance techniques.
3. Ability to operate and maintain petrol-powered horticultural equipment.
Experience:
1. Experience in performing manual labour and working in outdoor environments.
2. Knowledge and hands-on experience with gardening tools and machinery.
