PURPOSE OF ROLE In 2019 the FAW introduced a new Football Management System called COMET, which is now used by all areas of Welsh football and is radically changing the way the sport is administered in Wales. COMET is a digital application system that aggregates all the key processes, data and transactions that take place within Welsh football, including registration, discipline, competition management and payments. All aspects of the COMET System are now being used by Clubs, leagues, and referees in Wales. This includes: Registration of all players, coaches, referees, and club/league/Area Association officials; Electronic payment of all registration fees, disciplinary fines, and competition entry fees; Management of 600 different competitions (competition set up, creating fixtures, appointing referees, selecting team line-ups, recording match events, confirming match results); Disciplinary matters (yellow cards, red cards, misconduct charges and match suspensions); National Teams (all matches played by every Men’s and Women’s National Team); Club Licensing (Elite clubs); Club Affiliation (all clubs); Club Accreditation (all junior clubs); and A new reporting engine. We also operate two mobile apps: A match day app to be used by clubs, to select their team line-ups & add match events, and by referees, to confirm the match results; and The Cymru Football app which is available for the public to download and contains details of all matches played in Wales (Click here for further information).
