Here at Derian House we are looking to recruit Registered Paediatric Nurses.
To work as part of an integrated team, alongside a wider multi-disciplinary team respecting the skills, expertise and contributions of others in the provision of holistic care and support to Babies, Children, Young People (BCYP) and their families using Derian House.
To be responsible for the assessment of the BCYPs care needs, including the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
To assist in the management and organisation of work as required by the Care Team Leader, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times and to provide support for junior staff within the hospice team.
To play a key role in the supervision and assessment of designated staff as required, undertaking the role of mentor and acting as a named supervisor.
Main duties of the job
Ensure that care for babies, children and young adults is person-centered, assessed, planned, delivered and evaluated respecting babies, children and young people’s daily routines and promoting independence as far as possible.
To be responsible for providing safe and effective care in line with the hospice's operating procedures and guidelines and act as a resource for all members of the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist professional care and support.
To be responsible for improving and maintaining the physical and mental health of the babies, children and young people. Ensure barriers to achieving this are reduced wherever possible and appropriate.
To adapt the delivery of care according to the emotional, physical and environmental demands.
To participate in the primary assessment for newly referred children.
To refer to the Team Leader for advice/guidance during a shift as and when required.
Ensure the respect, dignity and rights of babies, children, young people and their families are upheld at all times.
To be responsible and accountable for the safe administration of medicines within the hospice on a shift basis ensuring medicine management policies and procedures are adhered to as per NMC guidelines.

Job responsibilities
Ensure the respect, dignity and rights of babies, children, young adults and their families are upheld at all times.
To undertake training as a supplementary and independent prescriber adhering to NMC Guidelines, if requested by the organisation.
To take an active role in the pursuit and promotion of quality through audit and research and participating in the hospice governance programme.
To be responsible and accountable for the safe administration of medicines within the hospice on a shift basis ensuring medicine management policies and procedures are adhered to.
To comply and ensure that non-registered staff are working within the manual handling policies and procedures.
Contribute to the day-to-day management of quality assurance issues reporting and recording incidents, responding to complaints and feedback in line with Derian House policy and standard operating procedures.
Support the organisation by conducting risk assessments for babies, children and young people within the hospice, reporting and recording incidents, accidents and near misses, actively participating in any corrective action required to minimise future risk, as requested.
Contribute to the safeguarding of babies, children & young adults, ensuring practice complies with Derian House Children’s Hospices and identifying any areas of concern and reporting them in a timely way to the Social Worker or a senior member of the care management team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RSCN, RN (Child), RGN, RNLD & RMN with a proven track record of paediatric competency, Minimum of 3 years experience, however previous significant health experience may be considered.
* Community Nursing Experience
