Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Disability and Wellbeing Consultant, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £23.50 - £31.24 per Hour
Summary:
The Disability & Wellbeing Officer will act as the council's disability-confident expert, supporting employees, managers, and stakeholders in coordinating workplace adjustments and wellbeing initiatives. The role involves providing professional advice, managing disability-related processes, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Responsibilities:
* Serve as the lead contact for workplace adjustments, ensuring compliance with legal responsibilities.
* Work with internal stakeholders, including the Disabled Staff Forum, to promote an inclusive workplace culture.
* Oversee awareness programs on disability and long-term health conditions.
* Coordinate workplace adjustments in collaboration with departments like Health & Safety, Digital Services, and Facilities.
* Manage individual casework, preventing escalation and resolving complex cases efficiently.
* Improve recruitment and onboarding processes to support staff with disabilities.
* Deliver disability awareness training and upskill managers on best practices.
Qualification:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent OR substantial relevant experience supporting individuals with long-term health conditions/disabilities.
* Knowledge of disability legislation, government initiatives, and funding options.
Required Experience:
* Experience providing one-on-one professional support and advice.
* Experience managing casework and financial records related to disability support.
