The post holder will provide efficient, effective, and comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Endoscopy Department in accordance with the standard operating procedures and trust policies and procedures, to ensure patients requiring procedures within the department have their pathway managed efficiently and effectively.

We are looking to appoint an Endoscopy Unit clerk to support the day-to-day running of the Endoscopy unit.
You should have proven patient care skills or worked in a patient/customer care focused environment. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical, and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and be a key team player.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
1. To co-ordinate the day-to-day management and maintenance of the inpatient/day case waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and Endoscopy Booking Policy.
2. To book day cases and procedures undertaken in endoscopy, within given guidelines ensuring the national and local targets are met.
3. To replace cancellations, as and when necessary, with like-for-like cases or within guidelines provided, whilst taking into account the national targets for waiting times.
4. To instruct patients with regard to the stopping of specific medication and inform patients of starving requirements depending on the scheduling of the procedure.
5. Dealing with all patient inquiries regarding cancellations, rescheduling, and holiday bookings.
6. To contact the patients and agree on a convenient date for their admission, in line with booked admissions.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Good standard level of education (GCSE or equivalent) in four subjects, one to be English.
EXPERIENCE Essential
* Dealing with patients/public face to face or working in a customer-focused environment.
* Knowledge of Patient Administration System and/or Endovault would be desirable.
* Working as part of a team in a busy environment.
SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE Essential
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection issues.
* Ability to work under pressure whilst remaining calm and approachable.
* Excellent communication skills when acting as the first point of contact for inquiries or complaints.
