REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Field Services
LOCATION: Initial Placement - Burford Administration Office
Construction Inspection Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and report on progress of Construction activities and contractor compliance with contract specifications both verbally and in written form.
2. Maintain good customer service with impacted residents, businesses, etc.
3. Measure and document as-built information throughout construction using level, tape measures and measuring wheel as well as assist with surveying as needed.
4. Assist County Staff in the acquisition of data as it relates to our municipal infrastructure from record drawings, field inspections, field notes, field surveys, etc.
5. Assist Infrastructure Services Staff in the day to day activities of the Infrastructure Services Division.
Surveying Responsibilities:
1. Assist County Staff in surveying activities.
2. Maintain good customer service with impacted residents, businesses, etc.
3. Measure and document information existing field conditions using level, tape measures and measuring wheel.
4. Assist County Staff with Road Design using AutoCad Civil 3D.
5. Assist County Staff in the acquisition of data as it relates to our municipal infrastructure from record drawings, field inspections, field notes, field surveys, etc.
6. Assist Infrastructure Services Staff in the day to day activities of the Infrastructure Services Division.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Control access to the Paris Transfer Station and/or Biggars Lane Landfill Site for County contractor outside of normal operating hours.
* Assist with the data entry and maintenance of all digitized plans of municipally owned infrastructure (water, sanitary and storm, etc.)
Equipment student employee will be operating:
* Microsoft Office (Including Word & Excel)
* ESRI ArcMap/ArcPro
* AutoCAD Civil 3D
* Surveying Equipment (RTK GNSS system, Total Station, Data Collector, Level, etc.)
* Laser level, other levels, tape measures and other measuring tools.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
* Ability to undertake outdoor, physical work in all weather conditions.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to maintain clear, accurate records of work undertaken.
* Understanding of municipal infrastructure systems will be considered an asset.
* Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G or G2) and a vehicle is required.
* Driver’s Abstract required.
* Ability to wear all prescribed PPE (e.g. CSA approved hard hat and safety boots) and demonstrate safety practices in accordance with applicable legislation and internal policies.
* Steel-toed work boots are required (CSA approved) at your own expense.
Education:
Preferably enrolled in one of the following programs: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Environmental programs or Architectural Engineering.
Duration:
May to August (35 hours with some OT)
Hourly Rate:
$21.88 (2024)

You must be enrolled in a post-secondary Institution and returning to school in the fall in order to qualify for this position with the exception of completing a final co-op term.
