JOB PURPOSE
In this pivotal role as our Senior Manager, Group Financial Reporting at Burberry, you will oversee the technical accounting and external financial reporting for our Group, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all statutory requirements. You will take the lead on key areas such as inventory, lease accounting, and Group Statutory reporting, working closely with senior leaders across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact within a fast-paced, high-performing Finance function.
This Senior Manager, Group Financial Reporting role is offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months, and will be based in our Horseferry House offices 2/3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Operating as the subject matter expert and advisor for technical accounting, lease accounting and Group Statutory reporting
* Leading activities in the assessment and adoption of IFRS 18
* Maintaining and updating Burberry Group accounting policies, communicating these to the wider teams and ensuring global consistency and compliance
* Reporting for the Group consolidated inventory position, including assessing key judgements related to inventory provisions for both forecast and actuals reporting
* Reviewing of inventory for statutory reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and analysis of statutory inventory and inventory provisions
* Overseeing the Group’s IFRS 16 reporting, including management of the finance reporting processes and monthly reporting from our lease database
* Managing and owning the planning and preparation process for financial statements within Interim and Year End statutory reporting
* Acting as a key contact for the Group external auditors, leading the Group coordination of the audit & review processes during interim and year end reporting
* Overseeing the preparation of UK local statutory accounts, including working with the financial services team, external auditors and company secretarial team
PERSONAL PROFILE
* Qualified Accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA
* Experienced in a Senior Manager level role (in either practice or industry)
* Excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK reporting requirements for listed group
* Experience of consolidation systems and consolidation in multicurrency groups
* Examples of addressing technical accounting issues with business partners and auditors
* Practical experience of drafting financial accounting disclosures is essential; statutory reporting and preparation of financial statements of a UK listed Group would be highly advantageous
* Exposure to inventory accounting and IFRS 16 lease accounting would be highly advantageous
* High attention to detail and exceptional analytical skills
* Expert communication skills, able to influence and engage with senior stakeholders
