If so Eddie’s is currently hiring a part time Development Manager (TFC) who will manage a portfolio of grant-making Trusts, Foundations and Corporates, building strategic partnerships with key donors to support the College’s vision and growth.
The role will be responsible for identification and influencing of major organisational donors, through both written bids and in person engagement.
The role will require some UK travel and will be responsible for identification and influencing of major donors. Flexibility is a must as you may be working evenings and weekends in this highly engaging and rewarding role.
The College is flexible to different working patterns, whether that is 15 hours over 2 days or over 4 you let us know what your preference is and we will try to accommodate it. There will be times, due to the nature of the role, that you may be required to work evenings and weekends but you will receive plenty of notice.
Job responsibilities
• Play a vital role in managing a portfolio of existing and prospective grant-making trusts and foundations, securing donations of five-, six- and seven-figures through personalised contact and written bids and applications.
• Build a strong pipeline of funding opportunities across a range of trusts and foundations which are aligned to the College’s strategic vision and THRIVE community framework.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of major funders within the UK and internationally; research trust objectives in order to craft well-informed funding bids and ensure that the giving potential of each individual funding body is maximised.
• Write compelling and powerful grant applications and proposals for a range of charities, trusts, foundations and corporate partners.
• Take a proactive approach to learning about existing and new research disciplines and maintain an excellent knowledge of social, economic and cultural contexts, so as to write powerful and compelling bids.
• Meet agreed targets and objectives, developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans for each prospect, as required.
• Commission, provide briefings for and actively engage with relevant event and communication opportunities to support the creative engagement of your prospects and donors.
Person Specification
Experience
• Experience within a similar role.
• Proven track record of working in a results-oriented environment e.g. fundraising, sales
• Ability to organise and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency with rigorous attention to detail in presentation.
• Experience researching and qualifying potential donors or sponsors, and of supporting fundraisers in creating prospect pipelines and cultivation strategies.
• Experience working as part of a team, and of co-operating with individual colleagues.
• Experience using prospect management systems.
• Experience of stewarding and cultivating relationships with funding bodies.
• Experience of producing reports, proposals or publicity materials to a high standard of presentation.
• Knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of major gift fundraising including regulation and compliance.
• An articulate and confident manner, demonstrating sensitivity and diplomacy in order to develop good relationships and solicit major gifts.
• Knowledge of donors’ and charitable giving trends in higher education. (desirable)
• Knowledge and awareness of fundraising systems, processes, policies and working practices, to-gether with an appreciation of wider University and HE issues/systems which impact on the role/service (Desirable)
• An understanding of standards, regulations and legislation which relate to/impact on the role and team (Desirable)
• Knowledge of specific/specialised software packages/databases (Desirable)
Skills
• Proven ability to develop strong relationships and raise five-, six- and seven- figure sums.
• Excellent negotiating skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
• A proven track record of writing highly complex and successful funding bids.
• Able to respond quickly and perform well under pressure.
• Excellent organisational skills and the proven ability to coordinate a number of projects and tasks with competing deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication and numeracy skills.
• Professional and well presented with a mature attitude.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours when required.
• Have an understanding of the complex nature of a Cambridge College (Desirable) or be willing to learn quickly.
• Good IT skills including use of social media and MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel.
