What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and passionate teacher to our Religious Studies team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work within a high achieving school where Religious Studies is highly valued and delivered as a core subject from Y7-Y11. At Key Stage 3 we follow the syllabus set out by the Peterborough Diocese, as well as following the AQA specification at GCSE and OCR specification at A-Level[MKD1]. The appointed applicant will be part of a vibrant and well-resourced department that teaches all our students from Key Stage 2 through to A-Level.
This post would equally suit an application from an early career teacher, who would benefit enormously from strong mentoring, or alternatively from an experienced teacher who is looking to develop their skills in a new setting. The successful candidate will need to be able to teach across all age ranges and abilities, up to and including A-Level.
A letter of application and completed application, including two referees, should be sent to Mr John Harrison by Friday 10 January 2025.
Early applications would be appreciated and informal tours welcome.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
[MKD1]I think we need to mention the exam specifications and the syllabus we follow, that way people who are interested will be able to prepare effectively in advance of the interview stage.
What the school offers its staff
The King’s (The Cathedral) School is a highly successful co-educational academy in Peterborough. We are in a privileged position to be one of a very small number of state schools with strong links to our local Cathedral. The school prides itself on providing students with a rich and well-rounded education based on our Christian values. In July 2024 the school was judged as Outstanding in every category and remains heavily oversubscribed at all entry points. Our students are great ambassadors; they are mature, well-motivated and fully embrace all that the school has to offer.
Commitment to safeguarding
The King’s (The Cathedral) School fully recognises the responsibility it has under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 (as amended), the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (as amended) and Education and Training (Welfare of Children) Act, 2021 to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
