Overview:
Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, has been awarded multiple new substation, overhead line, and subsea cable route projects across the North of Scotland for their key client, SSEN. They are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to join their team.
As this role is at the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage, you will be involved from the outset and oversee the project through to its successful completion. Your expertise will be crucial to the success of this venture, and they are keen to welcome a skilled professional to their team.
Your Role:
Duration: You will be based at the head office on the outskirts of Glasgow until late 2025. Following this period, you will be required to work on various sites across Inverness.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the commercial management of a major power sector project, ensuring strong financial performance and compliance.
Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise profitability and minimise risk.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of quantity surveyors and other commercial professionals.
Manage contract negotiations, procurement processes, and supplier relationships.
Provide strategic advice on contractual matters, dispute resolution, and risk management.
Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager in the construction or power sector.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial management.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
Professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, etc.) is desirable but not essential.
