Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Civic Licensing Standards Officer/Licensing Standards Officer within the Legal & Democratic Services section.
You will provide guidance and carry out monitoring and enforcement under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 which will also require you to carry out inspections and investigate complaints. You will also be required to carry out similar enforcement activities in relation to licences issued by the Council under the terms of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.
You must have effective oral and written communication skills aswell as organisational skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative, working to timescales and achieving targets.
It is essential you have the ability to understand your role and responsibility in terms of legislation and policies. Applicants require to demonstrate their awareness of licensing regimes introduced by Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, the Gambling Act 2005 and Civic Government licensing legislation.
Effective administrative skills e.g. record keeping, analysing issues and report writing aswell as the ability to work effectively with others and under minimal supervision and a focus on customers is also essential.
You must demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours, as evening and weekend work is required.
Previous enforcement experience and working within a large organisation, with a relevant qualification in customer services or similar field, and awareness of the hospitality industry, are desirable. Experience of conducting negotiations and influencing skills, ability to research and investigate issues and mediation skills are also desirable.
