Overview: The Chief Education Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic direction and visionary leadership for the York JCC’s educational and enrichment programs, including Early Childhood Education, School-Age Care, Summer Camp, Parent & Family Education, and Babysitting services. This role oversees multiple departments, supervises and mentors program directors and staff, and represents the JCC within the community and professional networks. The Chief Education Officer is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through high-quality, inclusive, and innovative programming that supports the evolving needs of children and families. General Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership to the senior education team, establishing and maintaining a high-level vision that aligns with the mission and goals of the York JCC. Serve as a key advisor and collaborator to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, contributing to cross-departmental strategy and decision-making. Oversee and support department directors in the implementation and continuous improvement of educational programs, ensuring alignment with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, DHS, STARS, PKC, NAEYC, and CACFP regulations. Candidate must be a strong communicator and be able to develop exceptional relationships. Collaborate with leadership and educational staff to develop and deliver innovative, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate curriculum across all educational programs, including Early Childhood Education and School-Age Care. Remain knowledgeable in the current thinking and research in the various educational areas of PA Early Learning Standards, STARS, NAEYC, Conscious Discipline and any other curriculum development. Support the ECE team with student evaluations (Teaching Strategy or other assessments) and assist in the review and results reported to families and PA agencies. Lead the ECE department with a high level of energy to foster collaboration and effective communication. Develop long-range plans for appropriate educational development. Implement and maintain a budget in all areas of responsibility. Maintain a personal/professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Promote the JCC and its programs through attendance and participation in local area, statewide and national educational conferences and activities. Perform all other duties as assigned. Engage professionally with families in order to inspire trust and confidence. Skills and Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study. Preferred Master’s Degree and/or with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE. 5-8 years of experience with progressive responsibility in early childhood services A strong understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills The candidate must possess high energy. Strong oral and written communications skills, technology skills. Ability to work well with others (families, staff, children and community members) and to foster a team environment. Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification. Must clear full background checks and clearances – PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, National Sex Offender Registry, and FBI Must pass health screening with a TB test. Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds
