Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Sizewell team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures, minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while achieving the required standards and quality.
The ideal candidate will hold a full UK driving licence.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Analytical Thinking & Decision Making: Orders information and systematically checks data; maximises digital opportunities.
2. Cost Engineering: Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents.
3. Estimating: Critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates with 3rd parties.
4. Planning: Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location; assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes.
5. Project Management: Monitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately; analyses the commercial progress and reports to senior project staff; manages commercial aspects with Customers and Stakeholders.
6. Procurement: Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes; prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy.
7. Commercial Management: Analyses rates & prices, agreements of variations and compensation events; manages customer and stakeholder relations; prepares, submits, and negotiates claims; prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation; complies with Company procedures.
Experience/Knowledge:
1. Wide experience of civil engineering and managing all commercial aspects of the project; fluent in contract law and terminology.
2. High proficiency in operating the NEC3 Options A, B, and C forms of contract.
3. Capability of producing robust Cost Plans and CVRs and presenting to regional managers/board.
4. Experience of managing a team.
5. Good knowledge of and adherence to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Building Surveying or similar technical qualification (HND/HNC).
2. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Membership.
3. CSCS Card.
Skills:
1. Ability to use a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages.
2. Exceptional relationship-building skills.
3. Self-motivated and proactive with commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
5. Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally, and with our supply chain.
6. Positive attitude at all times and the ability to integrate and play an active part in the Construction Team.
7. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines.
