Overall Purpose:
To maximise sales within the designated territory, strengthen the Armfield brand, and contribute to the overall sales budget. This role requires a proactive, strategic thinker with strong relationship management skills and a commitment to driving sales success in the industrial market.
Previous experience in the Food and Beverage sector and/or capital equipment sales would be beneficial but not vital. The candidate should have a background in chemical, process or mechanical engineering, Food Technology/Science or related training.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
1. Drive sales growth within the assigned territory, focused in the UK and mainland Europe with occasional travel expected around the world.
2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including tenders, from release to award.
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships across all job functions within the industrial market.
4. Plan and execute targeted sales tours based on market insights, independently and with Armfield personnel.
5. Provide monthly sales forecasts to assist in company planning.
6. Continuously assess market trends and recommend strategic initiatives.
7. Identify, budget for, and manage trade show participation, including logistics and marketing.
8. Organise and host customer visits and product demonstrations.
Technical & Product Expertise:
1. Gain a thorough understanding of all products, applications, and competitor offerings.
2. Collaborate with product development to communicate customer needs beyond standard offerings.
3. Provide technical support to customers and relay feedback to the support department.
Sales Process & Operations:
1. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, specifications, and delivery terms with agents and end-users.
2. Process and verify orders for accuracy.
3. Assist in documentation writing, including technical and marketing materials.
4. Support colleagues during absences to ensure continuous sales coverage.
5. Liaise with other departments within Armfield to assist in their tasks where appropriate, and in the delivery of orders through the business. This could include finding alternative parts with the purchasing or engineering teams, using your product knowledge to help the inspection and testing teams, or installing equipment on site and training new operators.
6. Contribute to the enhancement of internal sales processes in alignment with ISO9001 standards.
7. Lead and support equipment trials and demonstrations at Armfield facilities or customer sites.
