Working in partnership with the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT), the successful candidate will be responsible for giving advice and support directly to people from the communities in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin via the Community Mental Health Service Areas to support with financial instability and housing challenges. You will aim to improve outcomes for individuals through using this financial management service, to ensure that the needs of the individuals are met as well as engaging with external organisations within Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin who have been developing programs and initiatives whilst working in partnership with MPFT.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Provide advice and support directly with people from the communities in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin via the Community Mental Health Service Areas to support underpinning challenges that are related to financial instability.
2. Improve outcomes for individuals through using this financial management service, to ensure that the needs of the individuals are met.
3. Offer practical and emotional support to enable individuals to help themselves to identify needs and issues from all financial worries, concerns and aspects including (but not limited to): debt prevention, bankruptcy, budget management, consumer rights and income / benefit optimisation. All of which have a significant impact on an individual’s mental health.
4. Improve the health and wellbeing of local people through effective and relevant financial and debt advice, with more clients accessing the service at an earlier stage to prevent financial difficulties.
5. Be aware of and take advantage of local assets, community support, networks and programmes to help service users help themselves and connect with the wider community.
6. Take into account the individual’s strengths, knowledge, experience, skills and utilise family and friends to support and motivate individuals to change their behaviours.
7. Capture insight gained in a format that can easily be shared with all stakeholders (including our communities) and contribute to the broader needs.
8. Demonstrate a collective strength to transform the lives of people with mental health needs in communities across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, through joint working with partner organisations.
9. Address inequalities and increase access to services for underrepresented groups.
Person specification:
SKILLS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Technical competency (qualifications and training certificates/licenses):
* Money Advice Accreditation.
Experience:
* At least 1 year’s experience in the field of financial wellbeing.
* At least 2 years’ experience of working with the client group.
* IPS experience and 1-2-1 client support.
* Experience of working as part of a team.
* Knowledge of the local offers in the private, public and mental health community (financial wellbeing support).
* Exceptional service user and partner management.
* A high level of self-motivation and a flexible approach.
OTHER:
* Contribute to team and departmental meetings as required.
* Promote the charity in a positive and professional manner.
* Provide support to organisational staff and the Charity CEO as required.
Health and Safety:
The post holder is required to maintain and promote a positive attitude to health and safety and to comply with and ensure compliance with health and safety codes of practice for the safety and wellbeing of learners and staff.

Hours: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,000 - £27,200 per annum
This is a fixed term maternity cover position for 9 months.
Location: Telford
