Hybrid working is available up to 3 days per week depending on business needs. The job involves preparing, attending Child Protection meetings with the family and a group of professionals and then producing the minutes, which are set in a statutory timeframe. Secretaries do not have to convene the meetings, but they do need to attend in person. It’s important to know that these meetings will be regarding very sensitive and potentially upsetting information and on rare occasions could involve verbal conflict from the family parties, albeit not aimed at the secretaries as they are observers; physical altercations have not been an issue and are very unlikely to be. The meetings put actions in place with families to safeguard children where the children are deemed at risk but remain in the family home.
Secretaries need to be flexible in their approach to work and availability to attend the workplace as meetings are often convened or moved at short notice due to their nature.
