In this role you will provide specialist nursing care to patients across the liver specialty. If this is your first role as a Hepatology CNS you will undergo a period of training. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to gain experience in the viral hepatology clinics and as your competence and confidence grows you move in to a more varied position.
An experienced practitioner would have the opportunity to work with the existing CNS team who carry out a varied role. We work in both hospital and community settings to offer nurse led clinics in areas such as stable cirrhosis, Viral hepatitis, AILD, NAFLD, and speciality clinics such as treating hard to reach patients with hepatitis C or HBV and the rarer liver disease patients and as well as a clinic for newly discharged decompensated patients and nurse led paracentesis.
You will need to be passionate about liver disease and have experience of hepatology nursing. Good communication skills are essential. You will be engaging key stakeholders, supporting the nursing team to deliver specialist hepatology nursing across secondary and primary care. Working with others at national level on new nursing projects would be supported.
