Summary:
Responsible for the supervision of students in school’s extended care program. Supervise all activities that take place as part of the program and ensure the safety of each child attending the school’s extended care program.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
2. Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
3. Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
4. Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
5. Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
6. Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service ofthe organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
7. Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
8. Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
9. At least 18 years of age
10. As needed, differentiate lessons and activities so they are appropriate for students of various ages and with various abilities.
11. Prepare and gather materials and supplies prior to programs daily.
12. Assist and supervise children during all activities.
13. Assist children with meal/snack time and clean-up.
14. Clean-up site when children depart. Inspect and return supplies to appropriate place. Follow proper cleaning requirements and procedures.
15. Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness and safe environment are appropriately maintained.
16. Attend and participate in staff meetings and site events as requested.
17. Communicate appropriate information to parents.
18. Assist in enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents assigned by site coordinator.
19. Adhere to policies, procedures, and child care guidelines in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children primary focus.
20. Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant and foster positive connections between participants. Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child and the group.
21. Interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, school staff, community members and partners.
22. Effectively manage assigned group. Maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy. Report observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to site coordinator or school principal.
23. Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
24. Actively participate in all aspects of staff or member development, including supervision, team meetings, orientation and training.
25. Complete all other relevant programmatic duties assigned by supervisor.
26. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
27. High Diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school-age children and/or youth development.
28. At least 18 years of age
License and Credentials
29. Reliable transportation
30. Valid driver license
31. Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
32. Understand and apply basic child and adolescent development principles.
33. Communicate and develop positive relationships with youth
34. Adapt, facilitate and evaluate age-appropriate activities with and for the group
35. Involve and empower youth.
36. Identify potential risk factors (in a program environment) and take measures to reduce risk.
37. Care for, involve and work with families and community.
38. Work as part of a team and shows professionalism.
39. Demonstrate the attributes and qualities of a positive role model.
40. Interact with and relate to youth in ways that support asset building.
41. Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
42. Must have good written and verbal skills;
43. Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
