Healthcare Assistant / GP Assistant - Community Hub, South Petherton
Symphony Healthcare Services (SHS) has a fantastic opportunity for Bank Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) / GP Assistants (GPAs) or Student Nurses to join their Community Investigation Hub (CIH) based at South Petherton Medical Centre, Somerset.
You will have experience of working in primary care and be competent in all HCA / GPA / Student Nurse duties, including but not limited to the following secondary care diagnostic testing:
* ECG recording including setting the patient up with 24-hour ECG monitoring
* Phlebotomy (blood tests)
* Spirometry (TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED)
* FeNO test procedure
* Maintaining consumables
* Ensuring samples are sent off to the laboratories
* Keep clinical equipment in good working order and maintained/calibrated as required.
Ideal applicants will have a genuine passion for patient care, the ability to communicate effectively combined with sound organisational skills, to ensure they manage their own time and workload well, while delivering timely patient care.
We have multiple Bank ('as and when required') shifts vacant. Please apply if interested in joining our pool.

The rate of pay for this role is £12.00 per hour. Symphony also offer many other attractive Symphony employee benefits.
Main duties of the job
* Liaising with SSW PCN practices to ensure the CIH achieves the activity that has been set to maximise income.
* Ensure all activity is recorded and coded appropriate to maximise income
* Liaise with the SSW PCN Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) to ensure patient education around what the purpose of the CIH is and the service it provides to the local community
* Liaise with the central Data and Performance Team to ensure accurate reporting
* To support and lead on (where delegated) implementing new service areas within the CIH as agreed by the PCN Board and Somerset Foundation Trust (SFT) as the commissioning organisation.
* To work with the PCN leadership team to continuously update and work within the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the CIH in line with national and local guidance
* To have completed or be willing to complete the required spirometry qualifications (for both paediatrics and adults) to be able to independently undertake spirometry assessment and hold or be willing to work towards ARTP accreditation.

Skills
* Can record accurate and comprehensive notes of all consultations and encounters on patients' computerised records using templates where applicable
* Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills

* Previous experience of participation in research projects
Experience
* Significant experience of previous HCA / Phlebotomist or equivalent Technician role.
* Ability to carry out clinical, technical, scientific or administrative duties according to established protocols, procedures, or systems of work.
* Previous experience of working in Primary Care or similar NHS setting.
* Experience of ECG recording including setting the patient up with 24-hour ECG monitoring.
* Experience of performing Spirometry procedures.
* Experience of FeNO test procedure.
Knowledge & Skills
* Demonstrates factual knowledge of field of work.
* Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills.
