The SNA will provide basic elements of patient care, assisting with procedures/chaperoning, application and removal of simple dressings, obtaining blood samples and ECGs, and some clerical duties such as dealing with patient notes and referrals.
Main Duties of the Job
The role of this nursing assistant post is flexible, and the post holder will therefore be required to provide support over a wide range of services/functions. These may include but are not limited to:
* Providing basic elements of patient care
* Assisting with procedures/chaperoning
* Application and removal of simple dressings
* Obtaining blood samples and ECGs
* Dealing with patient notes and referrals
The post holder will be required to work according to a locally agreed Code of Conduct for Nursing Assistants.

Job Responsibilities
The primary focus of the role will be to provide essential clinical care to patients under the indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse / Midwife:
* Perform a range of delegated clinical duties utilizing and developing the skills identified for the clinical area
* Participate in the provision of quality patient care
* Record all clinical tasks undertaken for patients within the nursing documentation
* Accurately measure and document patient observations, reporting the patient's condition to a Registered Nurse / Midwife
* Promote Making Every Contact Count with health promotion opportunities
* Comply with IPC guidelines in every aspect of your role, escalating as required to qualified staff
* Demonstrate values and beliefs and the Clinical Support Worker Code of Conduct
* Work within the competency of your role
* Support and induct junior colleagues
* Perform basic life support and assist professionals during advanced life support techniques
* Routine and post-arrest check of resuscitation, oxygen, and suction equipment
* Act as a patient's advocate
Person Specification
* Experience working in a hospital setting
Essential and Desirable
* Has NVQ level 2
* Experience working in an acute setting/trust
